Glenn Frey nasceu em 6 de novembro de 1948 na cidade de Detroit, Michigan. Cantor, compositor e ator, mais conhecido como um dos membros fundadores da banda de rock and roll, Eagles.
Frey passou a fazer parte do cenário musical de Detroit em meados de 1960. Sua primeira experiência em gravação profissional estava executando violão e vocais de fundo para Bob Seger Ramblin 'Gamblin' em 1968. Frey e Seger permaneceriam amigos e parceiros ocasionais em anos posteriores. Frey, em seguida, se mudou para Los Angeles. Sua primeira gravação como um artista foi um duo com JD Souther, em 1969. Frey também conheceu Jackson Browne, com quem também, por vezes, escreveu algumas canções.
